Hi, all, First I don't know much about the car and maybe my description is a lit bittle hard to understand. Anyway, 'couse you guys are all professional and please help me. I have a 95 DI, 89K now. From last week, when I start the engine, some times the engine speed indicator jumps like BASS meter on stereo. The indicator dazzle or sway or whatever between 1000rpm and 1500Krpm. If I drive it for 10 minutes, everything would back to the normal. Anyone know what happeded to my car? haohao |

How cold is it right now where you live? That is sometimes a common problem for speedometers in zero degree weather. |

sounds like you are talking about your tach (tachometer). The gauge that measures your engine rpms? Read the below link for some ideas: ../2/40536.html"#444444"> |

hao pang is the check engine light on? if so turn the truck off turn the key back to the on position and look under the front passenger seat from the backside...chances are you will see a red LED showing a code 68...this means the VSS is dying. |

Sorry for the late. Ron Johnson, I'm living in LA, it's not so cold here. Thom, The engine light is off. Robbie, Thanx and I will check the alternator this weekend. Hoahao

Check your alternator, Mine dies shortly after my tach started acting up. Tach is driven off the alternator. It could be spiking or similar. Maybe the cells in your battery could be shorting out as well, causing the alternator to fluctuate? Just a thought to check. l8r Todd |

Hi Hao, Exact same thing happened to me... it's your alternator. Replace with new alternator and not rebuilt one. |

Hao, Before you go replacing your alternator (which it very well might be) have you had any work done to the truck in the 3 months? |

If your tach is fine and you are having issues with the speedo only I would also check the vehicle speed sensor.
