These grills are as rare as hens teeth. Just about everyone that advertises them havent got any. If you look at http://www.discoparts.com/Products/Exterior/Mesh_Grille/mesh_grille.html
They should be able to help, depending how badly you want one.
Cheers

not a DI but, heres a pic of the one on my DII TReK. I would suggest just cutting out the center of the stock piece and mounting wire mesh behind it. The factory piece is VERY $! I can take some more pics of mine if you want to see more detail.

I have one on my D1 that I hacked up to fit a winch. I figured id rather destroy the saudi grill than the factory grill, in case I ever sell it without the bumper/winch. If I knew the thing was worth its weight in gold i might have been a bit more hesitant with the sawzall. I paid $60 for it 2 years ago.

Does anyone know if the D1s through 03 D2s are identical? I have a Saudi from my 99D1 that was totaled last month. I kept it to place it on a newer one.

I'll probably hang on to it. It took a while to get mine once I ordered it 2+ years ago. As far as value it's a simple case of supply vs. demand!
Cheers!!!

its a factory piece, used in the middle east. I don't know if the factory makes them in house or has a supplier...
BTW, also known as a 'Gulf States' grill

Nadim, are you out there? On a previous discussion about the grill, you stated that you might be able to get some, does that offer stand?

thanks

I can get the Gulf State Grill for DI and DII from the UK but they are RIDICULOUSLY expensive so I haven't bothered. The DI Gulf grill is about 125 GBP in the UK and the DII Gulf grill is more like 275 GBP. For a while I thought the Gulf State Grill was a fawkin' Saudi restaurant, now I'm enlightened :-)

Wes..."you rang?" :-)

Yeah, offer still stands if you guys want. I'll call these guys up in Dubai and Jeddah and see how much they charge up...maybe I'll get a better rate at 12 grills or something...

Personally stopped interest in these after I realized that my M8274-50 would not allow for the Saudi Grill to stay "intact" :-)

Hmm.. i wouldnt mind to get one for D1, if price is right :-) Looks like it should provide plenty of airflow..

Which begs the question to Lewis - how well your truck copes with lovely Moab's red dust?

Guys, fear not, I've found the elusive and mythical D1 Saudi grilles for you here in the UK...that's presuming they've got any in stock.
Approx $120 to you. http://www.terrainmaster.com/new.html

KSA: 495$ per item, 4 available
UAE: 525$ per item, inventory unknown 'til now

My KSA-edition 1998 Disco has that grill and to be very honnest, that thing is not worth more than 40$!!! Why not one of you guys chop up the inside of the stock one and put shome chicken wire across...Hell, for 495$ we can put some VS laces there :-)

I've been thinking about looking for some on my next jaunt to the Middle East. Should have looked the last time I was there in Feb. Wasn't thinking.
Suppose to be going to Iran this year. Still considering Lebanon. And have two invites to Saudi. But with my April trip to Brasil and two weeks in August dedicated to Malaysia and Burma, sorry Myanmar, I may be out of vac time and money to go to the ME again soon. If I go, I will be checking out some salvage yards.

Nadim,
Sounds great. I still have your email address. I was suppose to go in October, but I moved in October and things started falling out of place. So my vacation was spent hauling furniture.

I made one for my Rangie...I didn't even know it was called "Saudi Grill." I made it with the existing grill, an exacto knife, some expanded metal, screws & satin spray paint. I personally think that it looks much cooler than the Saudi grill you can buy. I even removed the green oval from the old grill and glued it on. I'll see if I can take some pics.

Oh, I think the expanded metal was maybe five bucks in bulk. I'm constantly building stuff so I usually have various metals around.
