Let me first state that I know jack shit about absolutely nothing.

That said, I'm glad Kyle's back. I've just been reading the whole "dog bite" thread, and I'm glad Kyle's back. I've never met the dude, never spoken to him. I only know what he looks like from the first Dweb video. But I've been a lurker (for the most part) on this site for a long time. I think it's been 4 years, but I'm not certain. Could be longer, could be a bit shorter. But it's been long enough to see this site change drastically. I guess the most significant change in the site has been a general growth in the number of people here.

Growth, I suppose, is a good thing -- in theory, there are more people to disseminate good information.

In practice, it means that there are bunch of dildos swapping bad advice and bitch fighting amongst each other.

Perhaps I've been drinking the Kool Aid. Maybe that's a valid criticism. But to me, DWeb needs Kyle around here. Kyle is the unsilent minority -- most people who know as much as he does don't care if people are giving each other bad advice. The beauty of Kyle is that he never ceases to get pissed off at jerkoffs. I want Kyle on that wall. I need him on that wall.

I don't know how he, Ho, Axel, John Lee, or any of those guys who know their shit put up with the retardation. Like I said, I know jack shit and I still manage to get aggravated at seeing the same old crap sometimes.

The thing is, I don't know if I even like the guy or not. I've never met him and most likely never will. But I like Dweb much better when he's around. There needs to be at least one guy with hair trigger and itchy finger.

I guess my fear is that the guys who started this board will, one day, tire. I fear that one day Kyle won't get pissed off anymore, that Axel will decide that life is too short, or that Ho will decide to put his Discoweb energy into his business.

You know, I was a huge R.E.M. fan during the Chronic Town, Murmur, and Reckoning days. When they blew up and got popular and every teeny bopper was humming "Stand in the place where live...", I wanted to shoot Michael Stipe in the head. I don't think it's a stretch to assume that some of Kyle's venom comes from watching Discoweb's popularity push it in directions he's not happy about.

Again, I know jack shit. The little I do know was learned by reading here and keeping my mouth shut. I'm questioning why I'm even posting this message, and the only answer I can muster is that I don't want Dweb to go away. More specifically, I don't want Dweb in it's current incarnation to go away. If the handful of hardcore guys who know their trade decided to call it a day, Discoweb would be a bunch of broke-dicks like me trying to determine the difference between our asses and elbows.

So be careful, all you guys and gals who think Kyle's a prick and wish he would go away.

He just might, and you'll be stuck with me.

Kyle or Rob, I think we need to check the IP address. I have to say after watching all the Dweb videos I expected Kyle to look different, but hearing his comments on the trails I knew it was him for sure. Not sure what Rob looks like, but I imagine he is Kyle's alternate universe, like that episode of southpark when Cartman(Kyle) got admit is fits, except the hair, but attitude seems to be there, and his alternate (Cartman with a goatee) always trying to help and using constructively criticism. Just me or was Matt trying to get a pass to the Lounge area"
Oh yeah Blue don't sugar coat it.

Animal rights activist with a gun. Technical guru who can't spell. Following this trail of irony, I'd say Matt Taylor is also KVT.

Or perhaps Matt has decided to accept KVT's boorish and constant requests to be blown, and has done his best to attempt this through the sycophantic ravings above.

This is what I know about Kyle:

When I started getting into this board, I emailed a freind wanting to know what's up with all the fighting?

I received this response:

kyle is a smart disco guy and could probably build
anything out of popsicle sticks

That was enough for me, so I gladly paid attention to his technical posts, even when he got kind of ornery.

From time to time I have wondered if Kyle was just the meanest old man hermit out in the wilderness with a computer just being grouchy and looking for a fight.

Since watching the Rubicon DVD, I just don't know what to think because he certainly does not look old, and he looks way more nicer than he sounds. Sure blew all of my misconceptions out of the water!!

Anyway, I think it is cool that Kyle has long hair. I don't know how he manages to keep it from becoming a tangled mess on the trail. I know who I'm going to ask about long hair on the trail in those DUSTY conditions :-) :-)

Here's Rob boring the shit out of me:

I'm sure that will make Kyle feel like he finally made it - hair advice for the LR enthusiast.

Maybe this calls for a new section:

Here is Rob salivating over a cut of my brisket whilst he consumes one of the ribs out of the smoker:

http://www.expeditionexchange.com/ics2/DCP_0102.JPG

While I have not met this person "Kyle" face to face, I am fairly certain that they are not the same person. Based on the pics you would have to melt two Robs together and put on a wig like Steve Cooper wears :-)

Also note Sean Arney who is seated, but obviously considering assasinating Rob for that first slice of brisket.

Christian: It was coming down East Canyon. We had just finished up XC skiing Mountain Dell. It had been snowing pretty hard, but we drove up East Canyon to investigate some BC routes. The road was unplowed. I guess we were drifting slightly when we hit the spot where the plows come out of the salt storage at I-80. When the front wheels hit the salt it spun the rear around and put us perpendicular to the road and off we went.

The truck is pretty screwed structurally. The A-pillars are damaged pretty bad. Most of the rest is OK. They have totalled it, but I am working on a buy-back which I can use for a parts vehicle.

I had a lot of man-hours in that truck, but the fact that we came out unscathed is at least worth the cost of the rig and then some.

Can you send me a quick email with your number to:

[email protected]

Either that or call me at 801-541-0968. If that does not go through just page me at 801-339-1580 or try my desk at 801-587-6214.

I was just about to buy a 98 RR (today!), but $5K sounds too good to pass up.

Thanks!!
