Just installed the rear ladder rack on my D1 and now the rear door latch won't work. It opens from the inside, locks from inside and out but the actual latch does nothing like it is not connected. What did I screw up now??!! SEAN |

You pretty much answered your own question. You dont want to hear this, but need to. It worked before you got the tools out, it didnt when you were done. You need to retrace your steps while they're still fresh in your pumpkin. Make sure it works from the outside before you button it up this time around. Good Luck. Sounds like I worked on your truck. |

Same thing happened to me, except I couldnt open the door from either side. Turns out as I was drilling the holes in the license plate area, on the left side, the drill bit pushed "connecting" pin from the door latch and whatever it connected to. I managed to get the pin back in, but the same thing happened as soon as I closed the door again. To fix the problem, I used a zip tie in place of the pin. I know this might not be the correct fix for the problem, but it has worked for 3 months now, hasnt given me any problems and seems quieter and smoother than before.

I would also remove rover logo above latch handle and spray wd-40 in there cant hurt. The door latch will freeze up in there from time to time. |

I did the same thing with mine. Mine wasn't broken though, just had to reconnect it and put in a shorter bolt. |

Well, prolem solved after 3 hours of fiddlin' The door mechanism is a GM part and boy do we know how to engineer big pieces of pain in the ass. The drill must of pushed off the clasp that holds the lever on....I wonder why it was so easy to push off but a royal pain to put back on!!?? Thanks for all of the posting help. |
