I know that Safety Devices manufactures the Adventure racks for the NAS DSII's. However, they also make a low-profile unit in the UK for vehicles without the factory roof rails and sunroofs. I am possibly selling my hot rod to a sales guide. The deal will include cash and Rover accessories. Is there a LRNA part number for the low-profile rack so he can order it through his dealership?

Not that I am aware of. The D2 low profile Highlander/adventure rack is SD # RRL1550

I inquired about one last year since i dont have the sunroofs. My dealer quoted me a price of $2100 for the low profile rack. If your local dealership is not lazy, can get one for you but its not easy according to them.

Thanks for the responses. Geeze. $2100? Sounds like they were just buying straight from SD and adding additional markup. I have an unofficial source that said the dealer only pays about $625 for the standard Adventure rack.

I would not be surprised. My dealerships parts department not only buys at way higher prices but resells that way too.

Chris and Greg,

After Memorial Weekend I am going to order the LR Adventure Rack for my DII. Do you two have any recommendations for a vendor.

Thanks,

Paul

Paul, I would make a new posting in the Wanted Parts section. I havent bought an OEM part in a long time so others who have should post better info than I could.

If your looking to get a low profile one, see if you can order direct from Safety Devices.

Yes. David Gage at the Thatched Roof Garage. He is very reasonable and attends alot of the events so you could probably pick it up from him at an event and save on shipping.

I just talked to Dave the other day. The D2 version won't be in until Aug. If you want one sooner, you could go with the D1 version (3" shorter) and have it next month.

I talked to Dave today. He will get the D1's in next weekend. I'd get one but I'm in Arizona. My local dealer quotes one for $1,300. Dave is selling it for just under $1,000. The cost in shipping Dave's is almost as much as the dealers.

I just don't want to spend that much on a rack. Too bad they are ripping the consumer off. If they'd drop there prices, they'd propably sell more. I think everyone likes them and would like to buy one . . . It's the price that drives people away.

The safety Devices website quote is around $750.
I emailed them to find out how much they'd charge to ship . . . no answer yet.
