I have a 96 disco with 90k miles on it. I have maintained these, however, did not do the 30, 60 or 90 k Service. The local dealer wants $600 and an independant wants $700. I do not know if the local dealer would replace the Transmission filter. It seems like all of these are inspection, except for the fluid changes. My local dealer does an annual inspection for free. My question is, is it worth it? Also, does the fludis in the differentials and transfer case needs to be drained and refilled? Also any idea of the detail work for the maintenance is done? I will be driving to Orlando from the Twin Cities, any good dealers in that neck of the woods? |

I changed both diffs and transfercase with lucas oils and it cost about $30-40 total. That's including a new pump (yeah I stepped on the old one). I would say change what you can yourself and let them do the rest. |

Peter, On the transfer case there is a drain plug and fill plug. Pull the drain plug till it runs dry, then fill up with new oil. On a series 1 I use 2.5 qts of 80w90 Rog |
