I have a 94 Disco and just bought a rolled 99 and want to re power my 94 using the 99 4.0.. Any one done it? the 99 has a coil pack and the 94 has a distributor? Is it hard to transfer the ECU and wireing harness over?

Because i would rather run a newer 99 4.0 than the in my 94 than try to rebuild a rover that slammed a concrete barrier at 80mph. Besides my 3.9 have a rod or wrist pin knock and has a bunch of miles. The 4.0 is re strokable up to a 4.6 and beyond.. Are you suggesting i use the OBD 1 set up to manage the fuel and ignition on the 4.0??? there is no distributor hole in the timing cover and if i remember right the oil pump is also different between the two motors.

Use the timing cover off the 3.9.

crank snout is also a diffrent length, belt drive's are diffrent, and i my be mistaken but i will have to use the oil pump off of the old 3.9 as well.. My oil pump does not produce very good oil pressure.
