Hello All, I had my 95 D1 at the dealer to replace the driver window regulator (second time in 2 years...) and they wanted $900 to fix the ball joint-they said it had to be replaced as this is why my abs sensor keeps coming off.) I know I cannot do this myself, any suggestions? Secondly, they wanted $1700 to replace the cat assembly. Both cats are making quite a bit of noise. Has anyone out there had generics put in by an independant muffler shop? Would you recommend this? Lastly, the rear windows will not go down. I checked the fuse and it was ok. Any suggestions on where to look next? Thank you in advance. John |

not sure about the first one, but the second two: I bought a new y-pipe from Nathan at Discountbritishparts.com (discountrovers) for about $495. Installed it myself. and look here for window problems. might not be your issue, but it just might: http://www.discoweb.org/window/index.htm |

I fix my own windows using wheel kits for sliding doors available thru Lowes if that all that wrong with the regulator... Where is the ball joint?? I'd haven't done it yet but you can bet I'll be getting new cats from the local muffler shop. My previous experience with other rigs is after market cats work just fine on anything I've ever put them on. |

May be a probelm with your window ECU, It's fairly easy to replce and is usually responsibe for rear windows not working, my ecu was so bad the passenger side window rolled down and would not roll up. Replaced the ECU, every thing is good. 95 D1 83K |

I was talking about the enable button in the middle of the electric window controls... On a 96 the window controls are under my right elbow. I've never had any probs with my ECU G |

I checked the enable button and it did not work from the console, or the windows themselves. What and where is the window ECU?? The dealer said front left ball joint assembly. They said that the wheel wiggled when they had it up on the lift. That is what is causing my abs sensor to come unattached. I do not know about this and I definately do not want to spend $900! I have not taken it to a muffler shop yet, but that is what I am planning as the rest of the pipes look ok, just rattlin cats. Thanks again! John |
