Hello- I tried the search func. but came up dry. We have a 2000 DII and for the life of me I can not figure out what is going on with our int. light. The only time we can get it to go on is when a door is open. We can not get it to go on with the doors shut. I checked the bulb / switched it out, but it still will not work. Anyone else have an issue similar or a possible place to start? TX in advance Jason |

Well I can't help. But mine in my '99 sometimes won't go on with the door open. Sometimes it works fine...sometimes not. Sometimes I can switch the three way roof switch, front and rear, a few times and then it works...or it just started working on it's own. I think they come pre-haunted |

Jason, Mine was doing the same. I took it down from the ceiling and took it apart. There is a tiny copper(?) strip of metal inside that was 60% green. I scraped the green off with the edge of a coin, then put it back together. It has worked fine since. Good Luck, Jamie p.s. If you take yours apart, you might want to make sure you confirm the "off" position of the switch to remember to put it back the same way. I didn't do that, hooked it back up in the "on" position, and it blew the bulb and a few fuses.

Gentlemen- Thank you for your answers. Lewis- I can relate on the "haunted" aspect of these lights. Frequently, have I almost fallen out the door on the pavement at night pulling away from a traffic light just turned green while I trying to read directions, with the door cracked, and my foot holding it out, for the slightest shimmer of light.....doah Jamie- Brillant!!! I am 98% sure you are correct, I have yet to drop the light but due to the fact we live on the coast I have a sneaking feeling corrosion will be the culprit.... Thanks Again Jason |
