its been bothering me for months now, and i can't locate it. it sounds like the noise of the CD changer changing disks, without the 'clicking' sounds, but its not coming from the changer, as far as I can tell. And it only happens when I brake to a complete stop, and accelerate from a stop. Its very quiet too, sounds like a small motor is engaging, then disengaging. I almost thought it was a vent of some sort. It occures from sounds like under the passenger floor. anything in that area that would sound like that? besides the CD changer? and if it is the CD changer, why is it doing that?

Unplug the cd from the back so it does not have power and see if the noise continues. |

Could be your front axle CV. Have someone walk along outside as you slowly begin moving forward. They may be able to locate the source of the clicking. |

Could this be while using or trying to use Cruise Control. I had the same noise and sourced it to this. |

no ACE (thank god) and its not a CV 'click' it must be the CD player because it sounds *exactly* like when you put the cart in the player under the seat. I just ccan't figure out why it makes that noise only when braking and accelerating. BTW, CD's continue to play fine during this. |

I'm not sure, but do D2's have auto-adjusting side mirrors? We have another car that does, and the motor in the mirror sounds very similar to a cd changer motor. I may have heard this noise in the D2, but I can't remember for sure. |

no, although that would be interesting... mysteries abound I guess. i just thought it might be some braking issue or something. the first time i heard traction control, i freaked, thought i killed something! |
