hey guys i was looking over the power chip performance specs and noticed how much umph was locked away in that factory ecu, question is : have any of you guys done this mod and how much do you really gain, AND does outting this extra power to your wheels cause problems with trans, diffs. or transfer box, i just need a little extra power but dont want to tear up alot of other crap while doing this.

thanks for any info,

regards,

chris

I tried the Powerchip last year. I did not notice any difference in performance or fuel mileage. I have heard others with different stories, though. There may be factors that make the various rusults, so don't go by my dissatisfaction.
They do give you 30 days money back guarantee, if your not satisfied. They gave me 60 days because before the 30 days, I had expressed my concerns. Got it all back including shipping cost.
I have a D1 with some mild engine mods. Having a D2 may yield better results out of the chip with the Bosch fuel management.
Also, your drive train will handle an increase in power.

This topic pops up every 2 weeks or so. I have it in my 3.9 95 and noticed a bit of difference. I also carry the powerchip ecu's now. I would recommend it to the driver who complains about towing-constant changing of gears----mountain climbing at highway/interstate speeds..etc. I will tell you it will not make your d1 a powerbeast but it does give it that finely tuned feel.

Will, can you tell us more about the benefits in a D2 with the Bosch system? Any input on how it performs with a change to 4.11s?
