I have a 95 discovery and recently the red temperature light came on in the top left corner. Is this serious or just a sensor malfunctioning |

As has been said by many others, with a Rover always suspect a bad sensor first (assuming that your fluid levels are where they should be). Obviously, if you determine that the sensor is OK, an elevated trans temp is not a good thing. |

both of my current disco's have done it once. (a D1 and D2) All I did was pull over and shut down the engine, restrt in a minute and all was okay. It hasn't happened ever again, so I wouldn't worry about it going on one time. Obviously, if it was a regular occurence, I would begin to worry. Just remeber...it's a Rover. |

It has Happened to me twice and both times i was driving on heavy slushy roads in freezing weather. Both times the light went off a min or so after I stoped soaking the underside on the truck. So I don't know, it seems prety finniky to me. But I guess if the outside temp was hot I would be a bit concerned. RT |
