I finally got around to removing the running boards from my D2 (They were on when I bought it) and after I detached the boards and the brackets holding them (They are OEM boards) I noticed that there is a hex shaped bar that is attached via a threaded end to the board bracket with a nut. The bar alo seems to be attaching part of the frame above the running board brackets to the body. I would think that I would have to remove these bars and swap them out with a shorter bolt since they no longer have to hold the running board brackets (as the hex bars stick downard and will surely bend if I hit a rock). Anyone know the answer? Secondly, I am planning on trimming my air dam soon and so I will be removing the stock fog lights. Do they unplug anywhere? I have had the air dam off the truck before and didn't notice if the wires plug right into the light, although I think they do not. Nevertheless, I do want to remove the lights and want to know what is the best route to take? Thanks in advance Chris Kiely, 2001 D2 |

Part 2. Yes, the fog lights do unplug. Follow the wire up and you'll see the plug connected to the body of the car. Very easy to unplug. Keep the old lights, as you may want to use the factory harness again to wire up additional lights. The harness will come in handy for that. No...but I'm eager to find out because I'm planning to remove my stock LR running boards as well. If you hear off list what to do, would you pass it along? Ian |

Is this the hex shaped bolt that you are talking about? If so, this definitely needs to be swapped out for the "shorter" version that comes with the stock LR.

Yeah, that's it. I'll have to enquire about the replacement bolts when I bring the truck in for the 30K service. Thanks alot. |
