What's up fellas.
I noticed yesterday, driving home that the clutch was actually going down farther before the clutch was engaging. It's also shifting hard when I shift gears. I can feel it catch in each gear. Anybody know what this could be and what a good fix would be. I topped of the reservoir this morning and it was pretty low but that did not help. I just filled the thing up a little over an month ago. Anybody got any ideas?

Pull the boots back and check for a leak either in the clutch master or slave cylinder. The boot for the master will be inside the cab. You shouldn't have to add any fluid unless you have leak. Get it fixed before you continue to crunch gears.

look for leaks like Tbow said,

when that happened to me, it was the slave cylinder easy and inexpensive to replace.

good time to think and plan for a new clutch it will happen sooner or later but will happen.

Simon.

Sounds like you have a bad slave cylinder.
non release of the clutch until you reach the floor is sure sign of worn clutch.....but go with the cylinder first based on your report. If no improvement, then its time for the clutch

yeah, i don't think it's the clutch cause it just started to do it yesterday and a clutch doesn't bad between the morning rush hour and the evening rush hour. Normally the catch point is at the top and not down near the floor.

You have a leak and got some air in there. Buy genuine new cylinders or genuine rebuilds, unless it is lucas/girling the replacement ones I have seen are total CRAP.

I would do both, I have been nursing a leaking MC on the D90 for about 6 months as it is a pain to get to but on a disco it is easy.
