I have a 95 d1 that runs fine, cold starts fine, runs fine when hot, but at the end of my commute, stalls when I let off the gas. I drive 33 miles one way to work, I do a lot of stop and go till I get to the highway, then run for 27 miles on the highway till I get off my exit for work. I let off the gas and brake to a stop and it will die. It's easy to restart and will run till I get to my next stop light and brake again. Very odd stall, if I drive less then my 33 mile commute it runs fine with no issues or stalls, but for what ever reason my work commute it will stall. My thought is it has to do with some heat related issue, funny as it is 18 degs outside right now and fairly dry. I plan on throwing in new plugs, cap, rotor and fuel filter this weekend, my wires look good. Any other things I should look at? I'm at a loss for a solution as when I check it out, hot or cold all seems fine. But drive it, and it stalls. Thanks for any advice. |

hey andy, before you change anything, when was the last time you cleaned your MAF or stepper motor. also check the fuel pressure before you put a new filter on, if memory serves me correctly didn't Clark just change your filter when the fuel pump was replaced not so long ago? if you need a gauge, give me a call, you can use mine. talk to you later marc |

I did the fuel filter, fuel pump, and stepper motor, plugs, cap and rotor and around march last year. The sad thing is I have over 15k on those parts already. So it won't hurt to replace those things anyway. I'll check pressure too, I'll give you a call then. I'll check the MAF too. |

Hey Andy, I don't know if this will help but on my last car a Chevy Beretta I had the same issue, drive it for short distances and the car was fine, drive to school for 1 hour and right on my first stop it would die, started up just fine but it would just die for no reason. Had a mechanic checked it and he changed my transmission fluid, problem solved? I don't know why bad fluid would cause this problem but I know it fixed it, again this was on a Chevy not a LR....... |

You should also check and clean the Idle Air Intake Valve. Very common to get gummed up on 4.0's. 10 minutes start to stop |

Make sure that the base idle is set Ok. You might also want to check the TPS. Setting the base idle fixed a similar issue on my Disco. HTH, Jay. |
