I for one like the idea. I also am drawn to the (LED?) lights that are built into the roof rails and crossbars:

Jeep

Jeep 2

Also, in the interior pic notice that there are 3 pedals -- a manual transmission?

Take off that rear bumper and put on a modified steel bumper and you have a great departure angle.

If it is affordable I for one will be buying it. I was looking at a 2004 Discovery down the road since it will be the last real Discovery but this thing looks sweet and seems to be quite functional.

Now go ahead and tear me a new one.

From the article:

AC electric power (10 kW) generation in the field

3-D topographical mapping software and topographical navigation system

Under- chassis, point-of-view cameras for avoiding danger in its path

Passive, infrared (thermal) cameras for search and rescue

Satellite telephone; VHF radio, digital video recorder with satellite transmission capability

Retractable 4-point harnesses for vehicle occupants

Exterior perimeter lighting

White LEV lighting for long distance visual search and reduced power use

Folding seats in rear compartment of vehicle

Remote control winch front and back

Give me a slurpee machine and I'll buy it :-)

Actually, On TV I saw an ad for the Jeep Unlimited. It has a longer wheelbase to incorporate more leg room for us taller people.

123 inch wheelbase? That thing is huge. It would be nice if Jeep made it, but the production version would be closer to Durango than the show car.
