Hi all.. I have a '95 Disco with a remote that has two rubbery buttons on it. You have to press really hard on the remote to get the lock to engage or open, and be pretty close to the door. Is this the case for anyone (or everyone)? If it's not S.O.P. (well, everything on a Disco's big and heavy so who knows)... does changing the battery sometimes help? (And I suppose importantly - there's nothing about just changing the battery that would then force one to have the thing reprogrammed before using it again, is there?) Thanks much. |

Two buttons a 95. Did someone put an aftermarket on the vehicle or was it a new alarm install? |

Here is what I did last week. I replaced the battery and it helped some but I still had to press a little hard. I opened the remote and removed the board. There were two orange pieces of rubber just sitting in there. They had broken of the internal buttons. I then took a pencil eraser and cut it into thirds. I placed one of these thirds into each button area. I then replaced the board and closed the remote. I no longer have to press as hard but I still have two place it to my chin to get better distance. I hope this helps Chris |

Doh... I said '95, meant '96. (The, egads, *car* that I replaced by buying the Disco was a '95)... Thanks for the advice. Though I'm really leery about the chin part. I take it you mean that a little height helps, rather than trying to send a signal from hip level... I'm no Jay Leno, so otherwise, holding said remote to my chin wouldn't get it any closer to the Disco. (Something witty about lockjaw should go here.) |

By the way, ingenious idea with the pencil erasers. |
