My wife loaned her '98 Disco to her brother. He armed the alarm with the key (no tweeper), set the alarm off, tried to reset it with key many times and now it's dead. Accesories come on but engine will not start. Battery voltage okay, been through proper sequence to reset but no joy. We DC'd the battery, reconnected, tried and tried. Any advice before we have to tow it to the dealer(ouch)? Thanks |

thomas, my 96 has an intertia switch under the hood, near the washer fluid resevoir. if you have the manual read the procedure for resetting it. basically, you push the button and that should do it (i have never had to actually do it, so that is from reading, not experience). there is a different procedure for overriding "engine immobilisation" about which i know nothing. good luck. cheers, carl |

Thanks Carl. Tried the inertia switch as well but no luck. Just phoned LR Roadside Assistance. Very nice lady there, but she said you get 6 tries to reset the alarm, then the car thinks it has been stolen and shuts down, requiring the dealer to reset on their machine. I can see this is going to involve a tow truck and some hard cash. |

Thomas - how do you reset it with the key? Just lock and unlock or what? |
