I am about to buy a Transfer Case from an auto and I have a 5 speed trans. Is there a difference between a T-case from a manual or auto?

Lance-
I am 90% sure there is a difference, but you're ok going from manual to auto, trying to get a manual transfer case onto an auto truck is a different story. Don't qoute me but I think the difference in part numbers is the simple addittion of a "T" on the end of the one designated for a manual transmission truck. Its something that is probably worth a phone call to Rover's North, Atlantic British, or the like to makes sure you can use it in your application. I would reccomend the dealership but that all depends on location...
I know its not an answer, but at least its a start.

Yes - remove the shifter interlock solenoid from the autobox Tcase and you're set to go.

Thats it huh? Well you just made my search for a new transmission and Transfer case 50% easier. Now all I need is find a replacement 5 speed.

Is there any other feedback that anyone can offer me on this. I just want to be sure before I buy one that is from an autobox....

I pulled my T-Case last night and you all should have seen the bits of bearing falling out the drain plug! VERY BAD!

Lance the input gear is different depending on the main gearbox is ie auto,LT77 or R380. Transfer box high ratio also varies depending on what it came out of. Defender and TDI Disco's are a lower ratio, this is sometimes a good thing if you have big tyres as it restores your overall gearing.

I am asking if there is anything I should know about mating up a auto on an manual... That is all... I have found a great deal on a LT230 out of an automatic, 97 Disco I, just rebuilt for $675.00 to my door. I bought it but need to know if I am going to run into any problems other than the shifter interlock silenoid? It will work right? This is my question... Thanks to all the feedback so far though I appreciate it greatly!
