I purchased my first Discovery II and am loving it but have a few questions. I've read that the motors have always been loud but wondered if you guys thought it was a problem that mine makes a tick-tick noise. I had the rocker arms replaced earlier in the year but the click is still there at idle, just wondering if it's a normal thing. I also have recently gotten this annoying noise when starting in the morning. Their is a kind of a screeching coming from beneath the vehicle sounds like the transmission area. It's only when in Drive or Reverse and goes away after the vehicle warms up. The transmission seems to have been really testy with the low temperature lately. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas. |

The D2 engine normally has a whining sound to it and I do hear some ticking/pop noises sometimes but only when accelerating or decellerating. However, the screeching is not normal. Sounds like some part is expanding after warming and thus eleminates the noise. Sorry I can't help more. Jamil |

Thanks guys. My D2 just hit 50000 last week. I haven't gotten a chance to check the fluid but will do so. Now that the temp has warmed up it isn't really doing it. It kind of had the noise this morning but almost unnoticeable. I wanted to ask if it's abnormal to have a lot of little annoying noises every once in awhile from the D2. I hope my transmission isn't starting to go out b/c it's been shifting a little late the past couple of days. |
