I found the OBD I display and it's currently blank. The problem is that I am sceptical as to if it's working. When will the dislplay read? When the car is on or off? thx. |

It'll only read if there is a fault code stored I believe - regardless if there is one stored it will definitely be on while the ignition is switched on. Bill |

Brad, A '97 is an OBD-II.... there's a plug-in socket for an OBD-II reader under the steering wheel, sticking through the panel. -L

codes are stored until they are cleared (sorry if that is a dumb response). if your check engine light comes on, then a code will pop up. you can clear your codes a couple of different ways, one being to disconnect your battery for a few minutes (this is all in relation to a 94-95 DI). If the fault occurs again, then the check engine light will again come on and a code will pop up. |

An easier way to clear the codes on a '95 is to pull the fuel pump fuse (25 amp) and the adjacent 15 amp fuse in the fuse box near the battery. Wait 30 seconds then reinstall. This will clear all the codes without having to re-set your clock or radio security code. |
