This is a little off topic. I was curious about what you guys have invested in your discos. There are some awesome discos on the web and I know that some of them belong to you guys. Also, if you feel strongly good or bad about a specific product you have used write a little something about it. I have the itch to begin my buildup, but can't afford to take any wrong turns. By the way...great website all around.

Well, much of what you do is up to personal taste, Do you want your disco to look like someone else's?
With that said, I run a rovertym front blade, with winch, it is a great bumper! others run the arb, but again with personal taste proceide with knowledge and quality and you cant go wrong!
Good luck!
Peter.

Ryan,
I am also a fan of Rovertym bumpers. There are a lot of good products out there and you will see them all debated on this forum. Some are better than others but someone will always tell you one is the best for whatever reason. First figure out what you want to do with the truck. I bought my D2 to get into wheeling so I have done a lot of modifications. I say start with tires, protection, and recovery points. These are all basic requirements to safely get you through and home.

To see what I have done check out my site and go to the Land Rover section.

The list of things that a person can put on/in a disco goes on and on... Then you have different styles of those products, ie-bumpers, sliders, diff guards, etc... So you can setup your rig just the way you want it. That's what's so much fun, watching things progress.

I recommened finding a product you like, then search/read/ask all about it to see what others think.

Just enjoy each new mod.

Ryan-
I'll throw my hat in the ring on this one and second the notion that a lot of what you do to your truck and how you want it to look should be a reflection of your wheeling and your tastes. You'll find that both will quickly become a point of contention amoung others on the board, but that's half the fun-and hey, its your $$$ and your truck, so do it your way.

That being said, at the risk of being totally partisan and a tool for saying it, one of the best resources I used when I was still trying to figure out how the CDL worked was EE's website. If you read through their descriptions of products and the like you'll see, in very authoritative but often very valuable text and pictures, what really works for our trucks. That being said, can you and should you deviate from their reccomendations? Sure if it suits your needs, your budget, and your tastes-but in many cases if you do you'll end up like me and doing it right the second time around so really do your research up front!

The reccomendations made prior to my post about recovery gear, protection, quality tires, etc. are all good starting points-particularly recovery gear since you gotta get unstuck.

And for the record, I have an ARB-it sucks, I'm chopping it up when it gets warmer b/c I can't stand the approach angle, but it was on the truck when I bought it so I figure "make soup with what you've got"

Have fun, its a whole new lifestyle...
