Does anyone have experiences to share with Bilsteins or OME firms on a Disco II with 16" tires and stock springs? They are both about the same price. My goal is mostly on-road performance, as that is where the car is driven 95% of the time. |

aside from on road or off road, the bilstein shocks fit the stock discos perfectly. but once you lift it by putting taller springs, then you should get longer shocks as well, as the bilsteins will be topping out often. so, listen to bill and go with bilsteins. Ho Chung

bilsteins - its all that rover specialists recommend. standard bilsteen can cope with a 2 inch lift. |

I've had both. Bilsteins on a '94 Disco and OMEs on a '93 RRC with MD OME springs. Can't say I can generally tell much difference either way (hey, when its -40C, they are all hard as a rock) with the vehicle setups in mind. But if I had to say anything, the Bilsteins seem to be a wee bit softer initially. That is, the overall stiffness seems comparable between the two but the initial impact seems a bit harsher with the OMEs. But that could be spring rate differences as well. |
