I was peeling off the green oval that the p/o installed on the doors of my XD. He installed them after the original stickers peeled off. I thought my 96 XD was an eco challenge truck. Upon further review it appears to have been a Camel Trophy sticker with "1997 Team USA" on the bottom of it. My XD is a 5 speed and I hadn't seen another 5sp XD before but what do you Rover guys think. It also has the factory brush bar with the combination winch tray and winch installed. After doing some research it appears that it could be a Trial truck used to pick the 97 Camel trophy team here in the US. Or maybe one that was used to promote the event. Any ideas? It doesn't really matter but I would kind of like to know. |

If the "PO" put the sticker on and its a camel sticker why would you think anything of it ? That makes it a camel sticker not a camel truck. "Blow me"

The sticker that I pulled off was the one he used to cover up the original sticker (See profile pic). Underneath the oval in the glue and dirt remnants you can see the outline of the Trophy stuff. The PO just put LR ovals on to cover up the space between the black stripes once the original stickers wore out. It just made me wonder b/c I didn't ever recall hearing of another 5speed XD. Anyone else have a manual XD?

LRNA could have mocked it up maybe and then removed the stickers after they were done so it most likely is a 96 eco but you could have your dealership run the VIN and they might have notations. I only have ever heard of 2 real CT Discos here in the US. One at LRNA, and one in private hands of former CT driver, Ron Muns if I recall. |

I know that's it not a full blown CT truck because it's gas etc... But after searching google and coming across this link: http://www.4x44u.com/pub/k2/cameltrophy/ct97ust1.htm I thought maybe that it could be one of the trial trucks used to choose the USA team. The stickers that are on those trial trucks seem to be the same ones that were on my disco. It's hard to tell b/c only the glue remnants are left. I'll find out more on Monday. I know that it ran on an MSO for awhile and had the clutch repaired around 3500 miles. Thanks, Ross |

You could always call a LR dealer for a VIN check. |

Ross, Sorry if I'm asking the obvious, but did they run the VIN, and if so, do all dealers share a common database for work done on the vehicles? I wonder if any of the work that would have been done for the conversion between the pre and post CT trials would show in the service records. Victor |

What about using CarFax or one of those VIN services? |
