So I am getting ready to add a 2” lift and upgrade the stock tires. My question is will I still be able to fit in my 7’1” parking garage? The owner’s manual shows the height of the disco (up to the roof rails) is 76.4 in. That leaves around ~4.5” for the lift and new tires. I’ll probably stick with the 18” rims and go with something like 285/65/18 or 285/60/18. Will these new tires add more than ~2.5” to the overall height? Is it ok to assume a 2” lift will result in a maximum lift of 2” depending on mods? I have added a brush bar, skid plates, rock sliders, if that makes a difference.

Well, Clay, I would measure the actual height of your Discovery. It has been my experience that LR overstates the height of the vehicle just a little bit. I would also guess that all the extra stuff you put on your car have weighed it down & it won't be that high now.

If I remember right, my garage door is 7'2". I have 2" body lift and 2" springs with 255/85's, I clear the door by about 1/2" with the roof rails. A buddy of mine has 3" springs, 1" spacers, and 255/85's and we have to air him down to about 15psi in order to fit in.

Stock vehicle with the roof rails included should be 78". I have a D2 with 2" lift and 265 tires and I fit without hitting anything into a 7'0" parking garage.

Hey Jamil, you’re right. On my disco visor it lists the 78" but on the RAVE CD it list 76.4". It looks like I was getting the numbers confused. But 7'1" is 85" which gives me 7" of clearance. Plus I took Alyssa advice and went out and measured my Disco and it appears to be around 76” with the mods (had to eye ball with a tape measure since the first time I stood on the rock sliders and then realized what I was doing wrong). So it looks like the clearance should be around 9”.

Hmmm, maybe a 3” lift now? It truly doesn’t look like I have that much clearance in the parking garage. Probably should do some double-checking there as well (esp the clearance when going over the speed bumps inside the garage).

What is a Rave CD???

Oops. In the interest of preserving the tranquility of the board, I will now do a search for "Rave CD".
