I am in the process of replacing the old IACV Prt# AC-151 and notice the two parts do not sit at the same angle. I got the part # off of DWeb part list and wonder if I got the wrong part? I have also removed and will replace the hose on the passenger side valve cover. Anything else I can do? Thanks, Tim |

AC-151 doesn't work on a 97 d1 I tried it the plunger head is the wrong diameter and lets air by when closed. AC 151 is for another vehicle (i.e. chevy) and someone used it in another year discovery and it fixed it. The land rover AIC value does work. And it does cost alot. Clean the old one first and put it back in and go for a drive 30 miles or so and see it that fixes the problem. The ECU must reset itself after you pull the AIC that is what the drive is for. You will not notice a instant difference after you clean and replace the old one. So go for a drive. When I cleaned my old AIC I replace the passenger side hose off the valve cover to the air intake housing (plenum (spelling ?)) and the hose from the drivers side valve cover to the plenum. |

What is the best way to clean? Should I submerge it in cleaner? Thanks, Tim |

Is there a Aftermarket shop on line that carries the hose for the passenger side valve cover? Tim |

Sorry about the long wait. Brake cleaner is what I used to clean it or Carburetor cleaner. Nathan Crabtree at www.discountbritishparts.com |

I agree with Brian, I also have a 97 d1 and threw away $35 on AC-151. Went with IAC from AB and that worked, but it took about a week in my case for the ECU to "settle down". I had intermittent high idle (1200 - 1500 rpms). Once the ECU adjusted itself to the new IAC, my truck idles consistently around 650-700 rpms.

No worries Brian, I used carburetor cleaner. I had some black slime on the outside sleeve and after pulling back the sleeve I found some tannish sludge, cleaned it up stuck it back in. Brian good advise on the 30 miles, I would stall at every stop and then at 31 miles no more stall. My TPS and or VSS problem got worse though. I will give Nathan a call, does he have good prices for the TPS and VSS as well? Thanks, Tim |
