Got back from Vegas late Sunday night, with a big front blowing thru here in OKC (snow yesterday). Anyhow, after starting the truck (it had set for 2 1/2 days), there were gurgle/water sloshing noises coming from the dash area. Afterwards, the temp gauge came up to normal, but no heat with the HVAC system set to automatic. I even pushed the temp up to the max with no heat, just blowing mostly cold area. I then directed the air flow to the floor boards and got some heat for a short period, then a return to cold air. Needless to say my wife was not happy at this point. On my commute yesterday and this morning, same thing no/little heat and only with HVAV not set to automatic. I was in the dash a couple of weeks ago installing a blitzsafe adapter, so I guess its possible I knocked something loose. But that doesn't make any sense with the water sounds, though I really haven't heard the water noise but that first time. Any ideas?, by the way 2000 D2. Thanks. |

The gurgle noise is air in the hoses. |

ok, I will check when I get off work, didn't really think about that, since the temp gauge hasn't budged out of its normal spot. Thanks. |

Make sure the truck is cold before checking the coolant level in the expansion tank. Otherwise, it will register as having a higher level that it actually has.... but if you do it anyway, be careful and open the cap slowly to let the pressure equalize. Discos have cooling systems that are designed to keep the truck cool in the desert towing a trailer, so that's why you haven't noticed any overheating. |
