I used them once on my DII. They stopped well, but squeaked occasionally, so after they wore out I went back to LR OEM (don't know the supplier). It 10-15 bucks more to go with OEM, but the the squeaks are gone. |

HI: I had mintex and they squeaked all the time and they destroyed my rotors as they have alot of metal in them. Better off with OE. Thanks |

I've use Ferodos on my D1 and am happy with them. A lot of brake dust initially, but once they wore in, they have been fine. No squeaks, and rotors look OK. |

If you turn the rotors you should not have the problem with the squeak. |

I didn't think you were supposed to have the rotors turned on the DII? At least that's what I was told... ??? |

Mintex squeek and cause rotors to wear out prematurely. Way too much metal content. I'm surprised they don't shoot sparks from the wheels when you stop. They are not OEM. |

When I ordered the brakes thru a major parts store in my area there were several choices and according to computer these are actually listed as oem,saw it myself since it is a friend who owns the the parts place.I know I know it does not say LR on the box ,but they are manufactured in the UK.What does this thing call for anyway metalic,semi-metalic or organic?Asked this question before and got a ton of different answers, hope I get the correct answer this time. One last thing,if you want to eliminate the squeak from the brakes grind the leading edge of the pads at an angle(some pads are made that way already) this will take care of squealing. brakes. |

i use brake quiet from NAPA. You put it on the non contact part of the pad. Stops all squeeks. Trick of the trade i learned at a mechanic shop. I would uprate rotors to stop the premature ware. Thats what i will be doing when all of the safarigard goes on. Cheers Jack |

i use mintex and remsa in my shop and on my own Rovers. good product. use them along with Brembo rotors. just make sure you add some CRC Disc Brake Quiet. helps absorb any noise you might get from any set of pads. |

Lockheed is OEM; Mintex or Ferodo are about the same, nothing special about any of them. FWIW, I like the Lockheeds just fine, but, I'd use whichever is at hand at the time. -L

PS: Rovers are heavy, and hard on brakes. Usually, the rotors are worn to the point that if they were turned, they'd be below spec - there's not a lot of extra meat on a brand new LR rotor to begin with.... that's why they say don't turn 'em, that if they need turning then they need replacing instead. Change the pads frequently, and you don't have to replace the rotors *every* time. But if it's scored, replace it instead of turning. -L

I bought some EBC green stuff pads which supposedly don't produce the black dust and have a good rep. Have not installed them yet. I am tired of the caked hubs, so looking forward to trying something new. |

I just put on OEM Lockheed pads front and rear, 2002 Discovery II, and they squeak like a mother f****r, sounds like a city bus stopping. Didnt replace the rotors because the truck only has 25K miles. Rotors dont seem to have sustained any damage. Any Suggestions. |

try using some brake quiet or shims. good to always check the rotors while you are in there. discard if they are at or under these numbers. these are good for ALL Discoverys. front - .866 rear - .460
