I was thinking of moving back home to Stl this next year and was wondering where you guys get service done. I will probably move back to Fenton, so would like to find a shop in South County area, was impressed with the dealer when I lived there, just had a warranty then. I see you guys are going to Kentucky Lake, what else do you do regularly? |

The current dealer, Plaza, has a bad reputation within our group. As far as I know, there isn't a good independant rover shop in town. A group of us normally does some kind of offroad trip down to the Potosi area about once a month. The club is really informal. We meet once a month. A couple of us get together for lunch during the week sometimes. I'm not sure if you found the website yet, but here it is: http://www.stlrovr.com If you're ever in town let us know. |

Aaron, There are few different shops that people use here in STL. I use J&W Automotive off Tesson Ferry and 270. They have quite a bit of experience with older british vehicles. They are big fans of Minis and not the BMW variation. I take my Series to them and will start taking my '00 Disco now that it is out of warranty. There is also GLB motoworks on Big Bend that works on newer rovers quite a bit but they are more centrally located. I think another garage used is a place called Reid Vann. There is also a place more north but I can't recall the name. Ian is right though, none of these shops are Rover specific. In addition to the Kentucky Lake trip we have gone to Disney, OK and will probably do another trip there. There has also been talk of a trip to Attica, In and a couple of new off road parks on private land that recently opened. We are going to try to venture to SAE again and try to get a group to go to MAR. These are all longer trips, though. For day trip info see Ian's post above regarding Potosi.

Used to ride four wheelers at Potosi, and also Flat River. Is Ebo still open? that place was great when I was a kid. The move back home is something we are heavily considering. If I don't make it back we will have to hook up at MAR, the wheeling is okay, but the crowd is awesome. Will be back in March and April, but I am flying in. 15hours in the Rover is a bit steep for me. |

Got any room for a newbie from Columbia in stlrover? I can't make every monthly meeting But I would try.I hardly know anything about my disco but I think if I surround myself with some "experts" I can learn a whole lot more. |

I take it you have visited the website Ryan. Our meeting place and time is on there. I think everyone would be impressed if you drove from Columbia to St. Louis for just one meeting. I'll send you Kate's email address. She does a great job of keeping track of members and planning a lot of things for the club. She should get in touch with you I'm guessing sometime next week. Most of them are freezing in Kentucky this weekend. |

Sean Clawson wrote me and said that there was a "stlrover" member near me. Any idea? I Make the trip to STL for work all the time. Mostly chesterfield though, I would love to ride in the Disco for that long anyway. The knowledge gained would be worth the gas money for sure. |

I think he was refering to John and Lisa. They have a ton of rovers and are very nice people. Just ask Kate about them, she should have their email address. |

Ryan, I wish I had known this summer that you were in Columbia. I stayed in hotels there twice to and from Yellowstone, and I would have loved to have met up with another DWebber. If I come out west this summer I'll let you know. |

I remember Ian. I emailed you and it bounced back, so I had no way to contact you. I guess I could have put up a message, but I hate it when people post personal messages on the board, so I wan't going to justify it for myself. Sorry about that. It wouldn't have mattered much anyway; I hardly had enough free time to get to Jackson, much less GNP. This year, I am not working out there, but I am planning a road trip out west, and I would love to have you join me. You know, let me buy you a beer and make amends for standing you up. |

No big deal, I was just wondering what happened. I never made it to Montana anyway. I ended up spending most of my time in the Black Hills and some in the outback of North Dakota. |
