Maybe it is me but I was told to clean my Tee Piece Restrictor due to my strange idle. I cannot find it. I must be blind. My Disco died on me one day at a stop light. It would crank right back up but I could not get it to idle. Turned it off for a few mins cranked back up and have't had the problem since. I cleaned the stepper and it was dirty, real dirty. I decided to go ahead and get one of those carbon build-up cleanings. Made a huge difference in acceleration but I still have this faint misfire? stutter feel when I am stopped at a light. This is the same stutter I felt when she died, so now I don't want to stop at the lights. I figure getting a ticket for running stop lights and signs would be cheaper than a trip to my local rover shop(LOL). This hint of a misfire, stutter is bothering me. Now that I have been going on here is my question. Where is the Tee Piece Restrictor on a 97 Disco? I can find it. I looked in the tech area and I can't seem to be able to find any pics. I was told to clean this before I take her in for an idle reset.

Thanks

Chris

I think this "tee piece" is something to do with pre-1996 Discovery engines (and RR Classics?). My 1998 does not have it either! But there are a pair of hoses you still might want to inspect. On from left valve cover to intake/throttle plate area, and one on right side (L-shaped and longer). They seem to get "soft" and collapse with age. Don't squeeze them too hard or they might tear in your fingers!

David is right. The replacement hose is made of a different material able to withstand the heat, elements, etc....
Check the oil seperator under that hose in the valve cover. If its cloged try cleaning it. Be carefull when removing it. It is probably fragile by now and can easily break. The replacement is cheap however, you might want to pick one up before attemping.

Mike,
Do you know what the part # is for the"L-shaped hose" that goes into the passenger side valve cover, the one with the oil seperator?
Thanks,
Tim

I think that (right side of engine) one is ERR4258, while the one near the plenum inlet (left side) is ERR5039. These are certainly for "late" Series I Disco's with AEL (Advanced Evaporative Loss) system. So I think these are right for 97-99 Series I vehicles, and may fit 96??

Those are the Land Rover part numbers. Other suppliers may provide "OEM" parts labelled the same way... doesn't mean they are not as good quality! Most good suppliers can provide these hoses, including AB, RN, BP etc.

Joe,

One source of pictures I can think of right now, is on the Atlantic British website (http://www.atlanticbritish.com). Plug in those numbers and a description/price and photo will come up! Right side one is a long "L" about 5-6" long, while left one is more like a twisted "elbow" about 3"
