So during a trail ride last weekend I tore off the end caps of my rear bumper (which I'm sure is pretty common)and I was looking closly at the rear of my D1 trying to figure out what is the purpose of the muffler like object under the rear bumper? More noise supression? Emissions? Spark arrestor? Gallbladder? If I cut this off and extend the pipe will anything happen except not dragging it over every trail around? Its already taken a bad beating and I hate to replace it if I don't have to. And yes, I did look at the owners manual this time... |

Hack it off!! It's purpose is noise supression but I'm sure you won't be able to tell the difference. Jim

I'm pretty sure that's what the call they resonator, and it doesn't really matter if its there or not. I only say this because mine fell off, I took it to a muffler shop and asked them what I should do, approx $30.00 later I had a new pipe on going from the muffler out the back, where that object had previously been. |
