I know this same question has been on here several times, but where do I get the paint to paint my bumper end caps and other black plastic trim. Thanks.

Go to any auto parts store like PepBoys or Autozone, they have paint for bumpers, even color paint if you bumpers match the color of your car.

Tony is correct. Also you can go to Griots and they sell it in an applicator bottle that looks like one for shoe polish and is easy to apply. I have attached the link. I will attempt this once I remove the old paint the previous owner has applied. Horrible job too! When you get to the main page click "Maintain", next step is click on "Restoration" on the left hand side the product will be on page two. It is priced @ $12.00. http://www.griotsgarage.com/index.jsp

Then again - you can just grab bottle of black Krylon Fusion (their special paint for plastic) and get away with 2-6$ (depends on store) spending :-)
Thats how i did renew mine.

Sergei,

Is that the spray paint version? I would rather have some other way to put it on, it just seems easier to put it on with some type of applicator than using spray paint.

hmmm silly thought, but how about spraying the cheaper paint into a small container and then applying with a applicator...?

I did not think of that, but I wonder if it would go on smooth... I like your style, Joey.

Brandon,

I don't know what you are dealing with, so my post may be of zero value to you.

I've got hundreds of marks/scratches on my truck and the ones on the black trim areas look the worst.

I was told a few weeks ago by the detail person at my dealership that they aren't really scratches at all. He said that they are the residue that trees and limbs leave behind after scraping along the truck when going thru brush.

He said whenever I wanted to leave it with him for the day, he can get it all cleaned off and looking good again. I haven't done that, so I don't know if that's true or not.

Good Luck, Jamie

Joey - will not work, as paint will stick to the surface and you cant apply it evenly (guess how i know :-))

Brandon - yep, its spray, it actually lays down pretty good, you just need to get some masking tape and newspapers :-). Good thing about that Fusion kind is - it wont left any streaks and runaways unless you really really overspray it.. And you can always train with small bit of plastic first. I done all outside plastic bits on mine (mirrors, trims, airdam & etc) and it laid down beautifully.

Another option is to use "Back to Black" stuff, but its way more expensive. That one you not spraying, but more like buffing in..

Oh yeah, and Jamie - whoever will tell you that you can not scratch trim's plastic with wood just smoking something very odd. I mean surely there are plastics that are VERY hard, but whatever used on that trim is pretty soft.

Yes you can scratch plastic with wood. Trust me, I know.

You can take the bumpers out of your car to clean and spray them. They are hooked only with three to four screws and the lights on the bumpers plus the reflector on the rear bumpers come out easily by unscrewing them or popping the circlip for the reflector. The only thing I didn't remove was the rear view mirrors and the side protector trim on the middle of the doors I didn't need to paint those as they still looked good, but the bottom black plastic trim also comes out with just a few screws. That way you don't have to worry about getting black paint on the metal and you get better coverage on all the pastic parts. the good thing about this also is that when you put it all back you can tighten them up so they don't rattle.
