I've gotten used to pulling the heater fan and cleaning the nest out of that , but while checking under the bonnet (hood) I noticed a pile of scraps of paper...classic mouse nest in the V under the air intake.....amazing amount of stuff pulled out from there...... now come to think of it, maybe there are mice in my screeching alternator...... |

yep - I found a nest n the heater fan during the fall - funny I wondered why it was making a weird noise. When I opened it up there were a few tiny skeletons in there along with the hood insulation material that they'd been collecting Jeff |

I had mice collecting shreds from a roll of paper towels in the back of my 109 wagon. Then I replaced my plug wires with nice new ones, they ate the tops of 2 of them off. One day I drove to a fellow Series owners house and parked next to him. While we were comparing vehicles, a mouse jumped out of mine and into his. We could not stop laughing. I can think of better cars with real insulation and heat I'd be living in if I were a mouse. They can't be real enthousiasts because none of them were wearing LR gear or bitching about oil leaks..... a few winters ago, i was hiking at this little mountain lake by my house. when i got back to my disco i turned it on to warm up and i could smell what i thought was a burning electrical smell. i crawled under the dicso but as dusk was approaching, i could not see anything that really jumped out. at that point, i hopped back into the truck and drove down the canyon. as i drove off, the smell seemed to go away. the drive home was uneventful other than my imagination getting the best of me in thinking that Lucas, the prince of darkness, was rearing his ugly head. when i arrived home the smell was back and seemed to come from the transfer case lever area, so i grabbed a drop light and crawled under my truck, only to find the remnants of a little field mouse cooked to the flat spot of the Y pipe collector. all i could imagine was that fuzzy little guy climbing on to my exhaust pipe to warm up his little feet and poof was he cooked where he laid. marc |

I finally went to Knoxville to retrieve my IIa from a friend's shop, and brought it home to the farm. Spent some time getting it running, but, then it had some other issues develop, such that I knew it better to deal with them during the rebuild instead of chasing 'em patchwork-like. So, it sat for a few months, before I got around to towing it over to the shop. To get it to the shop, a friend came over and pulled it with his Disco, and I followed along behind. Once in town, we ended up in a bit of traffic that slowed up due to an accident ahead. Some movement caught my eye so I looked closely: a field mouse had dropped from the Series's underside to the road, and was running along underneath, trying to figure out a way to get back up. It eventually gave up because it couldn't keep up, turned then bolted for the roadside..... lol.... -L
