I got a check engine light this last weekend while at Mt. Bachelor of P0125 "Insufficient Coolant Temp For Closed Loop Fuel Control". Anyone know what this means? Could this be related to the outside temperature? At the time it was about 25 degrees F and a wind chill of 10 below 0F (blizzard-like conditions). And why would the "coolant temp" be insufficient in these weather conditions? |

This is a common 1996 GEMS issue. As long as your thermostat is not stuck open, nor the gauge malfunctioning it is cured by replacing the PROM (if you feel the need). Otherwise ignore it. I had it happen on my 1996 when it was like 0 out last year. Ron |

The spanishtrailrovers.com site describes P0125 as "Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Warm Up Fault." So check out the coolant temp. sensors, maybe it went. Check its connections too. Its a cheap little part I believe. |
