Uphill battle or what. We're now $500 into trying to locate the problem with my 95 disco.
Started last year when it didn't want to start one morning but after holding the key on and abusing the starter, while jackhammering on the gas I could finally get it to start albiet VERY rough running when started. And once I revved all the bad stuff out of her she would behave for months. Months turned into weeks, then days and now after new rotor, cap, plugs and distributor flush she drove like a beauty (for the first hour and a 1/2 of our 2 1/2 hour trip)
Then came the stuttering and shuttering and sputtering, though barely noticable at first we parked it for a full day and when we went to leave (after pumping the now somehow entirely flat tire)nothing. Once we did get it started and headed back on our 2 1/2 trip home the sputtering and loss of power was huge. I'm surprized we made it at all.
And to top it off the dash lights just quit about half way home.
Made me laugh at least.
End of a long story is that there she sits, absolutely refusing to start now with her flat tire and no dash lights. Suppose I need some suggestions if anyone has any unless someone cares to gracefully drive a dump truck through my precious ;)

Have you replaced your fuel filter, and checked fuel pump, it sounds like a fuel related problem you should'nt have to hammer on the gas to start a fuel injected engine.

Wow...only three things went wrong on that trip.

What is a distributor flush??

Somehow it seams to me that if you can't diagnose a flat tire, maybe you should just have it towed to a LR shop. They will put the spare on for you. Wonder how much they charge for that?

Why do I wonder if the alternator is dead, so the voltage drops leading to all kinds of wierd things happening.......
Check that your battery is good, or charge it up.

Wow...your right, Jack. That when I saw the tread name I thought it was about something else entirely. (insert Bevis and Butthead laugh)
