Just recently my cruise control on my 96 D1 failed. It's weird since it was working fine since I got the car. There were no signs of failure (i.e. losing connections, or driving funny). It suddenly just stops working. I checked the fuse and looks fine. Are there any other things I should consider before I take it to the mechanic. I mean things that I could "fix"? Thanks.

Raymond,

There are many discussions on this subject if you use the serch function. It is most likely a crack in the vacuum line. Not only something you can do yourself but something that should take 2 minutes. Directly in front of the steering wheel in the engine compartment there is a small black hose coming thru the firewall. It then splits to the center of the engine compartment and the other side runs down under the jack. Check all the connections the tube tends to crack. You can just cut the crack out and reinsert.
