I was looking in the 'window' section and read about Kyle's custom bumper. I tried to do a search about it and didn't find what I was looking for....
I understand why you didn't make it (saying it wasn't strong enough?) but I really like the way it looks. Is there one that is available that looks like the LRNA guard encorporated with the heavy duty bumper?

Sorry if this is an old topic or something I've completely missed....

Sus,

I don't think Kyle makes them still. I've seen an alternative that is somewhat aesthetically the same as Kyle's. Dean Brown bought a Rovertym slimline bumper and welded the LRNA brush guard to it. You can check his gallery for photos. Sounds like you're about to start modifying your goldie box....Good luck and let the fun begin!!!

You could also do a variation like buy a TJM blade (instead of the full bull bar) and have the upper half of the LR brush guard welded on to it...I guess that's the same idae as what Glenn said. That may look quite nice when it's done too. Not sure if it's very cost effective but it is also a possibility.

I've been thinking of doing something like that just not sure about the cost.

I second that thought SSV...

I am now (after a small bumping accident) in the market for a new Front facelift. I was thinking of upgrading. And I absolutely love the look of Kyle's POS (HAHA). I don't plan on creating a Super Polident or Super glue, hanging from a Wrecking yard crane with the bumper...so, his less than tank grade product seems to fit the bill. I also see that Ho is using his quite comfortably. Any thoughts on selectively offering your product Kyle?

Look up "sarcasm" in the dictionary, and you will figure out why Kyle's bumper is in the window section.

If you look in my gallery, you can see what Kyle's bumper looks like with the top portion of an ARB attached.

As for when he will make more and what the availability will be, you have to ask him.

- Axel

SSV, One thing to think about is that those light guards (three bars infront of the headlight) that come on the factory brush bar are no longer legal in VA. You are not allowed to have anything in front of your headlights that may or may not interfer with the beam. I doubt you would ever get a ticket from a state trooper for it but, you will fail your safety inspection unless you pull them off before you go or you get a guy that doesn't follow the rules. Same thing with the brake lights. Just some thing else to think about when you are looking at bumpers.

Damn... Can you please tell me how you really feel about Dean's bumper Kyle? .

Seriously though, I've seen Dean's bumper in person and it is not bad at all. (especially for his first attempt). But hey, what do I know...

As always, I miss a lot by going home from work!!

First, I feel incredibly stupid thinking that Kyle's bumper was a flop...thanks for clarifying Axel (and I know the definition of sacrasm by heart!). I knew I liked it though!! And atleast I didn't call it a 'less than tank grade product'!!

Eric, I had heard that the light guards were illegal, but I've never been corrected for it or actually been told from a service shop. There are Rovers all over the place here with the genuine brush guard...and I passed inspection last year! The Rangie we just bought has both the front and rear light guards and it's up to date as well...so who knows. Atleast if I keep the genuine guard I can remove the bars if necessary!

Poor Dean...he got dragged into this thread unknowingly!! ALthough Kyle's comment about the lip injections just absolutely cracked me up!!!

Although my trimmed bumper caps have defintely improved the look at the angles, I would love to start modifying the truck...just depends on $$. I need to get some Hellas first...and I have a birthday coming up! YIPPEE!

Thanks Glenn for the support! :-)

Kyle, check your mail.

Well, SSV then you are lucky. Up here in Northern VA they make you take them off or you fail. I guess the Troopers down in your area don't hound the inspection guys like they do up here.

Make sure that you put anti seize on all those screws that go into the rivi-nuts for the brake light guards and the brush bar screws on a regular basis. If you don't the bolts will rust in there and then you will have to cut them out (if you can) or you will end up with a hole in your sheet metal from having to pull the rivi-nut out. I had it happen to me 2 months ago and now I'm trying to figure out what I want to do to cover up the hole that it made and also to cover up the rivi-nuts that are still there as I'm not going to waste my time trying to put the brake light guards back on just to have to take them off again next year.

Sure, it's easy to weld a hunk of steel together. Not that easy to make it look good, though......

I agree with Axel...I've seen homemade jobs, but I like something that looks finished and professional...as well as complementary to the vehicle. It might be tough and used just to get dirty but I still like things done right. If I'm going to invest money, it's going to be good.

Kyle, I think a gallery like that would definitely be amusing...and informative (ie what NOT to do!)! :-)
