Ok, I know people have put Disco Series II seats in a DI...what about RRC (or newer seats) in a DI. I love my truck sooo much, but on long trips (3000miles+) the seats are so uncomfortable...moreso for the passenger than the driver. I'm LOVING the RRC seats, so what about a swap? Too difficult?
Also, mine are manual, and I'd like to keep it that way...if this WERE possible, are there RRCs with manual seats?

Just brainstorming some comfort tonight...been in the desk chair too long! :-)

If any RRCs have manual seats it would be the County Edition.

FWIW

Really? Ours is a county and it has power...I'll ask around in the RR thread.
Thanks!

Hey, let me know if you make the swap, I saw some nice RRC manual seats on a website for $400. I don't know that I want to spend that much but if their comfortable than maybe I will!!!!

Honestly I am out of my element here, but I would think that if any RRCs are going to not have power seats it would have been the County.

I stand corrected SSV.

Interesting that this popped up...
Our Disco is our main "long-distance" ride, and nobody likes the front seats. Meanwhile, both Range Rovers have excellent seats - so I may end up putting the '89 RRC electric seats into the Disco, and Disco's seats into the rangie.

The only RRC with manual seats was a 1991 Hunter edition.

I have 1995 RRC seats in my 96 discovery. The 95 classic seats were different than the 94 and earlier classics. The seat rails and plastic pieces underneath in a 95 are exactly the same as a disco. They are a perfect fit. I also added a RRC console because the seat switches are on the side of the seat, which left a hole in my console where my seat switches used to be. Seat switches did not come with my seats, but the discovery switch mechanism is the same as the RR's. All I needed were the $7 boxes that hold the seat switches to the inner side of the RR seats. The wires click right in because the switch is the same. The only tricky part was routing the power wires from inside the console to underneath the seat (where they are in RRCs). Luckily the wires were just long enough, so I cut a small slit in the carpet between the seat and the console and fed the wires through and up under the seat. I was amazed at how interchangeable parts were between 95 RRCs and discoverys. The seat boxes and console are exactly the same. Even the dash is similar. Dave

The armrests hit the seat controls when the are mounted on the side of the console.

Dave, how comfortable are the RRC seats compared to the Disco. I've been thinking about making the switch and if they fit right in than I know I am going to do it, but I cannot seem to find a 94-95RRC at any dealership around my area to test the seats!!!!!

One more thing can anyone verify for me if the 96-Disco Seats are not completely interchangeable with the 95-Disco????

Quick question does anybody know if they put the wiring in for electric seats even if the Discovery came with none electric seats? I know on some cars all the wiring is there even if the option is not part of the vehicle being made.

Brad, if it were possible it would only be on the 96 and later trucks, as they did not come with power seats until then. I am not positive, but I would imagine the wiring is already there. Susannah, what about D2 seats? You mention how they would fit and there were quite a few manual seats in SD models, correct? I think mine are very comfy. Dave, yours looks real nice. Oh, and did the Hunter models even have leather? Might be something to consider, as mismathced front and back seats are quit ghetto.

As I'm breaking in my new LWB, I am finding that the seat squab is not as long. I have long legs, and I don't have as much support as I did in the Disco. However, the seats are much squishier and softer in the LWB. They aren't hard like the disco.

Has anyone done the Recaro conversion for the Disco 1 ? I've heard that there are bolt in seats available, but haven't found any details yet (then, again, I haven't done a search for them here ;-)

Dave, that looks awesome! Thanks for sharing!!
Matt, that's a good point about matching...and I'm not sure I would ever even make the change....not until I get REALLY tired of the seats atleast! I was concerned that the DII seats would make it feel cramped, although I know the RR ones are larger too. I don't have any trouble driving my truck, in fact, it feels like home...but it's after any length of time that things get tough! :-)

Alyssa, how many cars do you all have now?! We must be following in your footsteps!!!

Has anyone posted on putting disco II power seats in a Disco I. I did a search and did not come up with anything. I would like to put disco II seats in my disco I.

Tony, The RRC seats are much more comfortable in my opinion, but I didn't mind the disco seats in an automatic. The RR seats worked better with a clutch for me. I found the discovery seats were too narrow in the seat and the back. The RR seats are a little bit wider and the bolsters on the sides of the seat and back are not as pronounced. They are also softer and maybe a bit taller in seat height.
