Are the LR OEM mats the best ones for the 03 Disco II? or are there better/cheaper ones out there? How is Roverconnection to buy from? Thanks folks - i don't mind mud in the carpets too much, but the road salt is killin' me!

Sean, it all comes down to money and preference. I personally went to walmart and bought their version of a heavy duty rubber winter floor mat for I think around $20 or $25 for the set. Of course I am a very frugle person. I will spend a little time to save some money if I can.

Sean,

I bought the LR rubber floor mats. I've bought floor mats at Wal-Mart before. The LR are much more expensive, but they fit perfectly and don't get pushed around. They grip really well to the carpet. IMHO I would buy the LR floor mats unless another manufacturer makes rubber floor mats specifically for the Discovery, then I'd look into those. When you buy LR floor mats you are paying a good deal for the LR name to be branded on the mat.

Sean,

I also invested a lot of money in the LR rubber floor mats. The front and rear seat mats are very nice, fit perfectly, and do not slide at all. The load space mat on the other hand feels like a "cheaper" (i.e., less well made) product. It is made from a different rubber material and tends to slide around, although it is fitted to the Discovery Load Space. Despite the obvious step-downe in quality, the load space mat still cost a little over $200.

I paid the dealership almost $450 for the entire set. I would by the front/rear seat mats again but would not waste the money on the load space mat.

Thanks for the info, guys. Yeah, my concern is mainly fit - I hate it when they bunch up under the pedals or fold back and let stuff get all over the carpet. I mean, the carpet's washable, but then why bother with the mat at all? And my boot heels wear through Wal-Mart mats (and then through the carpet). If the LR mats are a little tougher, I'll probably shell out $180 for the set. It's my daily driver in the winter so I want a little cleanliness and "luxury". 8^)

Sean,

I don't think you'll find a better fit for the rear seat area than the LR mats. You could probably get away with something generic for the front but the LR rear ones are probably the best fit and nicest you're going to find.

My dealer sells Cannon (I think). They are about $100 for the set and they fit great. They hold more mud, snow, etc. than the LR mats did and they don't slide. FYI, my dealer is great...if they think a LR part is too expensive or inferior to an aftermarket product, they will tell you where to go to get the aftermarket product or they will stock it at the dealer!

Just another opinion,

I bought the Cannon mats instead of the LR Originals, because the Cannons came in tan to match the interior. I should've bought the LR Originals. They fit better and are made of a tougher AND more pliable rubber. I'm gonna sell mine and get the LR Originals. Cannons are good, LR Originals are better.

The dealer got me some LR rubber mats. They fit perfectly and look pretty cool. They have the LR logo and the rear ones lock together like the carpeted ones. However, on the bottom they say "Cannon" anyway.
Well, even though I'm confused on which is which, I'm happy with the ones I got. Thanks for all the advice!

The OEM mats are very high quality, and I have a set. The only disadvantage is that they're a bit shallow, so don't hold much water or melted snow.

Chris-
It sounds like you have the light weight load space mat. Land Rover has a heavy duty load space mat and a light weight. The light weight has a rim or shoulder around it to contain spills or dirt. The heavy duty rubber one is about 2 to 3 times the thickness of the front mats and heavy. We usually supply the heavy unless the light weight is requested. It's nicer and better quality.

I've got the LR mats. $300 with shipping and handling off E-Bay for front, rear and full load space mats.

Personally I love them. They fit and work perfectly, plus they look great.

I do, however, clean them with tire cleaner and a preasure washer every time I get back from the trail. They've been completely covered in mud before but you'd never know it if you look at them now.

Just my thoughts.
