Hmmm.......

I have to say is that *ANY* index that states, for general use, that a Subaru is less reliable than a Land Rover is *seriously* flawed. You can't kill a Roo, they just keep going and going....

FWIW....

Speaking of that Leslie...I'm trying to convince Ivan to sell his Explorer and get a new Zoobie-roo...which one do you have? I really like the Outback wagons, but know three people who have just bought Foresters. We drove an outback in Maui and loved it.

How's the gas mileage?

Jan,
thanks for the info. It's hard to spend 30k when the product is known for reliability problems though- especially with the air suspension issues of the RR. Land Rovers seem to rate poorly when it comes to reliability- I've seen that documented several times. We'll see what Ford can do...
Cheers,
Paul.

you welcome!

i thingk there is nothing wrong with small misshaps and some mechanical problems if you vehicle is "2nd vehicle" in the family and does not cost you a fortune to repair....RR is EXPENSIVE to repair...and nothing bad met of any brands...some things simply are better than others...like toyota....BUT in of price of toyota i can get 2 discoverys here....same age and milage....so is there anything to hasitate?
im not so brand orientated and economics play a big deal too! (cheap 4x4 leavs money to other fun things like trips on hollydays...)

Sus,

I've got an Impreza. I'm getting shy of 30mpg because of my lead-foot... If I watch it I can get ~28mpg, but usually closer to ~26.

At the time we were buying two (his/hers), so we went with the smaller size. It's perfect as far as being my commuter, and I can get all 5 of us in there: but, if my kids were bigger it'd not be as comfortable for them in the back seat.

It's an '02, and I've got ~44k mi on the odo already, so it's helping in the gas-mileage dept., given that the Disco gets half what the Roo does...

I went with a sedan because I liked it better than the wagon, and she was getting a wagon. Have to admit that the wagon was maybe a bit more practical - I just preferred the sedan for looks, and being able to keep junk in the trunk w/o being in the open. Wasn't as big a deal since we were also getting a wagon, nor is it a deal now since we have another Disco. If I didn't have such, the wagon would have rec'd more consideration.....

FWIW....
