Did a search, but no luck. How hard of an install is it? Where did you mount the box? |

I put the box in the rear center console ash tray. I drilled a hole in the ash tray and the wire comes out from there. Mounted the holder on the left front coin tray. Jamil |

Probablly should have elaborated a bit. I'm looking to install it in a D2. Trying to decide between that & a standard compact CB bolted to the back of the console. I like the idea of the clean install of the cobra, but after my blitz safe install I'm worried about room for the "box" Bob |

Elaboration... Here is a photo: http://www.pbase.com/image/25817937 You can see the coil wire running along the driver seat to the back where the box is. Remove the ash tray and leave in the ash tray instert. I drilled a hole in the ash tray inster right in the middle and that is where the wires come out. The power cable exits on the passenger side throught seam in the console and is wired to the battery. Jamil

Thanks Jamil, How big is the box? Could it be mounted inside the console or glove box? |

The box is the size of a motorola flip style cell phone. |

Why go through all the trouble of mounting the box in the ashtray when the box can be mounted very easily under either seat? It's out of the way, you can get to the connections much easier if you have to, and you don't loose the ashtray. - Axel

Bob, I mounted mine under the seat on a cross bar. I then ran the connector for the handset out from under the seat (comes out under the right front corner of the seat). I then mounted the handset on the little "hump" next to the CDL. This way the handset faces up at you so it's easy to read and hear. Check the General Non Tech section, there's a thread of mine in there about the Cobra. It's called "Cobra CB and engine interference" I think. It may not help much, but all the threads on the Cobra 75 that I remember from the past just won't come up on the search. This is on my D1, so I hope it helps with your D2. Matt |

Bob, Mine is mounted behind the panel that opens right below the steering wheel. Fuses are on the far left, CB is on the far right. A bit of the styrofoam was cut out for unit to rest in it. Drilled holes into the drivers side coin box (or ashtray, the two boxes are interchangable) and attached the hanging brachet onto the drawer front to hang the mike. The drawer is still intact for use. Mounted a small firestick external speaker box in the space just below the cigar lighter. It fits perfectly. Sound is great. Everything is out of site and out of the way. Good Luck, Jamie |
