Quick question: will a 255/85/16 rub the radius arms MORE than the wider 285/75/16? I know that the 255/85 is a bit taller than the 285/75, but will it rub less since it is thinner? Thanks |

john, in the BFG line, the 255/85-16 (MT) is 33.3" in diameter, the 285/75-16 (AT) is 32.9" in diameter. subtract 32.9 from 33.3 you get .4", now divide that by 2 and your left with .2" (that's about 3/16th thick) so mathematically it will rub about 3/16th of an inch sooner, but at this point we're just splitting hairs. it's sixs, they both rub and they both dramatically reduce your turning radius. but in my opinion, it's worth every 36 point turn rubbin' minute. 33's just look right on a lifted Discovery. marc |

I have a feeling each of them will rub at about the same time...Since one is taller, but the other is wider, I bet they will rub about the same. FWIW, my 255/85 BFGs dont rub my radius arms at all with my offset AR rims... |

Ditto- I have 255/85's and have no rubbing and didn't touch the turning stops with AR steelies. |
