Jan, sorry for sounding like a pain, but the search works very well, and the tech section has lots of good info http://www.discoweb.org/tire.htm That being said you did not mention what year Disco you have and your profile does not list it either. Here is another good source of Tire info on a stock DI http://www.sf.hiof.no/~frodehaa/forandringer/245-75.htm I have a DI with OME HD springs and Bilstein shocks with 245-75-16, and I like the way it looks, haven't done any triming yet, but I also haven't done any major off roading yet. |

i got 245/75/16 Cooper Discoverer S/T (the cooper all-terrain) and have not done any fender trimming, although it does rub about a half inch on the rear fender lip. Nothing major, i haven't even got around to trimming it, but it does touch. From what i can understand a 245/75/16 is probably the biggest tire you are going to throw under there with a stock suspension. A 235/85/16 was classified as a '32 inch tire. Way too big for a stock disco. The cooper in my opinion is a good tire, it's not quiet, but it's barely noticeable on road. Although if you are planning to do a bit more off-roading than the average person does, the cooper discoverer S/TT is a lot more aggressive treaded tire, also can be had in a 245/75/16, and will fit under a stock DI (I dont own a DII so i can't say whether or not it will fit). The S/T is a great tire though, i have had no problems with them so far, and definately would reccomend the S/T for everyday driving. The S/TT (the cooper mud terrain) is actually cheaper than the all-terrain, not sure why but it is $1.00 cheaper than the S/T. |
