My 97 disco with electric seats has a stuck headrest on both sides. A guy at the dealer said that they will have to take off the leather and fix the place where the bar goes into the seat from the headrest. That is $300 work of labor. Has anyone had a problem like this? Any ideas of how to get the headrests off so I can put on some water proof seat covers? |

My drivers headrest is stuck on my 97, gonna look at it one of these days, if I find something that works to get it unstuck I'll let you know. |

it'll most likely be a code, that takes a while to fix on the auto logic that we used at the shop. You have to find the faulty code and re-program it. A local auto logic equipt garage will be able to fix it for a lot less. Cheers Jack |

This thread has me wondering if perhaps they tend to get stuck when they are not used? I've got a D2 and have only removed mine a few times. The last time I removed them so that I could throw my water proof seat covers into the washing machine - it took me about an hour to get all 5 of them off. I really thought they were stuck in there for good. It took alot of force to finally free them. I wonder if lightly lubricating them with something occassionally would help? Jamie |

Here is a close up of the shaft on a 97 disco head rest. Removal took less than 5 seconds. I just pulled straight up. Firt time was very hard, heat may have set ridges in the plastic/nylon sleeve that the post glides in. Now it is a snap Stuart

use alot of solvent. i used Breakfree CLP (gun cleaner/lube), sprayed down the shafts, let sit, and then pull up really hard. |
