I have recently installed a OME 3" lift using 751/781 with 1" spacers.

Love the results, but now I hate the loof of the original stock tire size.

I've decided on the BFG TA-KO, but I'm torn between the 265/75-16 and 285/75-16.

Primary concern is looks. Will spend most of the time on the pavement.

Advice is appreciated.

Cameron,

How does the truck drive now with the lift installed? At high speeds?

Did you have to replace the drive shaft?

I have the 3" OME lift w/o spacers and am running 265/75's on it. I had to cut the front bumper a little, but that's getting replaced soon anyway. I don't think 285/75's would fit without some pretty heavy cutting, even with a 1" spacer.

Ok guys, here's the reality check (all this based on 2002 and younger D2's):
Lifts and Tire Rubbing: You will rub the stock bumper, but most guys rip them off or put a new bumper on. I gained only 1.5 inches of lift and I'm running 285/75 Yoko MT. The only rubbing I have is on the radius arms. I have a RTE bumper, winch, rear bumper, sliders, Blah, Blah, Blah and 4 cross country off-road trips...
Lifts and Driveline: If you lift your truck, you need to change your driveshafts. Period, you'll eat the rotoflex in the rear and your living in borrowed time with the DC in front.
Bigger Tires: You can run stock gears with a 265/75. You'll slow down some, your transmission is going to shift a lot more and gas mileage will take a shit. If you put anything BIGGER on, you should at least upgrade your rear axles and change to 4.11 gears. That big a tire will BREAK a rear shaft. As for the front, not a lot of options, but I've already blew one CV and I now have a spare. Your mileage changes to feet to the gallon with out a gear change.

So Billy, the 285's will fit with that lift. The only guy I know that's trimmed a D2 for tires is Greg Davis, and that's because he's running 35's and needed the room. He also has installed a rope ladder to get into the thing (LOL, Greg)

Uhmm Frank, they're 36.5".

Soon to be replaced with 315/70/17's for the street. What was I thinking?

Oh, I'm 6'4", so no rope ladder required. However, my wife, who's only 5'2", keeps wearing the paint off of my RTE sliders. hehe
