OK, so just sealing the rubber trim around the top of the windshield isn't doing the trick anymore. I need to pull the stupid thing off and clean the whole area and reseal the stupid windshield. The previous owner had new glass put in by one of those, "come to your house in a GMC van" places, and they obviously used the old rubber trim after ripping it out - not the way to do things with a Land Rover.

Anyway, I think I can seal the window, but where do I get more trim. If I pull it off to seal the window it will surely be ruined, it is almost falling off on it's own already.

Rovers North doesn't have it. Atlantic British has RR classic - one piece trim for $140.00!?!?!? It looks like the trim on mine is four separate pieces with corners to connect them.

Any Ideas?

Your right. To properly install the windscreen, you have to replace the moldings.
It should be about $145 total for all four.

I would, of course, like to have the windshield replaced. But the estimate for that - at a shop that told me they would need my car for 3 days because that is the only way they know how to do Land Rovers - would be about $700.

So, can I buy just that top piece of molding anywhere? I know I can seal the window again, but I have to pull that piece off, and that would ruin it.

I thought my windsheild was leaking last year. Come to find out it was the sunroof draining down the front of the windshield. may be worth a look. I just cleaned out the drain hoses.

R.B., what is your insurance deductible like??? I think you know what I am getting at. Not that i am promoting insurance fraud, but the previous winshield was improperly installed. If the vehicle had been in an accident and the bumper had not been put on right and fell off on the highway and you ran over it blowing all your tires out, then you could make a claim, right? I dont know what it is like where you live, but in some places where the roads are salted and graveled all winter you can expect to crack a winshield fairly frequently, and insurance is quick to cover. Just a thought.

Don't have sunroofs...

The insurance only pays for it if the glass is actually ruined... I need to ask again, but if I remember right, the deductable is $500 anyway, and my insurance would go up due to the claim. And I would have to "prove" the windshield was improperly installed at some point in the last 10 years - have no idea if it was the day after it got off the ship, or the day before I bought the truck 2.5 years ago.

Point is, I think I'm stuck with it. So untill I do get that chip or a break in the window, I need to find a way to seal it again.

I meant if it was "accidentaly" broken. But your deductible is high like mine so there is really no point. Sometimes if it is low enough the class company will even pay it for you.
