SO i've checked hoses and searched on here for remedies, here is what i have; i can press the cruise button next to the speedometer and the light comes on,(the light on the button) i press the "set" on the control and the light within the speedometer that tells you the cruise control is working, does not come on, nor does the cruise work. if i hold down the accel button, i feel the car try and speed up, but not hold. let me say i visually checked the hoses, but would they affect the light coming on? Any suggestions? Also my wife just bought a 1994 BMW, does anyone know of a message board even half as good as this one. i have been to roadfly.org and bimmerzone, but still no comparison to the discoweb. |

What year disco is it? (You might add this to your profile at some point). My '01 doesn't have a light on the dash, btw.

Jeb, Cruise light will not come on unless system is working. Check for cracks in vacuum lines, power to vacuum pump, and diaphragm at throttle linkage (it can crack when it gets old). Bill |

My switch on the steering wheel went bad and I had the same symptoms as you: the clicker swtich would work on the dash, but not the switch on the steering wheel. Dunno if this is what's wrong with yours, but it sounds familiar. |

Mine was inop w/ purchased, fixed the hose & it worked for ~2wks, dead now. Same sort of symptoms, but will not even respond to the accel button. Also I can find no ref for a light, (other than on the switch) that shows the cruise in operating. Where on the speedo is it. BTW it's a 99 DII. |

Jeb, I own a 1983 BMW 533i (E28). I don't know how much you've followed the Roadfly boards, but most of the bimmerphiles (comparable to what you find here for the disco) have left Roachfly due to unreasonable (to some) rules and regulations on posting. I don't know about other model designations (what series is your bimmer?) but the E28 board at http://forums.mye28.com/e28/ is very informative and a very community oriented group of enthusiasts. Not knowing which model you've got, you could probably get a good idea on a lot of stuff due to similarities in the in-line 6 cylinder engines that BMW used/uses. Otherwise, check out this page, maybe you'll find what you're looking for: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/02s_online/roadfly_alternatives.html You can see my 533i at http://users.moscow.com/kitscott/bmw2.htm Good luck and HTH, Kit |

kit i have an E36. could not find anything on the mye28 board. Bob my indicator light on the speedometer is on the strip at the bottom that has many lights on it. same one where the trac control and tilt angle light are. it may be a "c" for the cruise control, can't remember, been too long since i had it working |

Jeb Don't know how the "community" is but here's an E36 Bimmerforums.com board: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=00ee5a6331c4e2d2f882894b 4a8578e4&forumid=14 Good luck, Kit |
