Well, I promised that Id report back on this issue, and after searching a bit for the old thread, I gave up...Here are the 1st impressions (pics to follow in a couple of weeks): Problem: Crappy stock weather seals on all 5 doors disintegrated and let elements in and did not drown Simex howling enough ( ) Reason: Crappy LR build, 12 years in the services, and several "mud", "snow" & "river" dumpings by careless driver Solution: Go to LR dealer/site and replace with original ISSUE: at 48+ GBP each, I was willing to ditch the body and tube the truck INSIGHT: Truck/cutsom seals are cheap IDEA: Go to truck place and get some THICK ASS seals that go the job BETTER than LR and CHEAPER RESULTS: @ 2$ a meter, and using a little less than 20 (investment up to now - IUTN = 40$), I redid the whole trucks 5 doors with a bit to spare. The seals are GREAT, THICK, CONVENTIONAL, and are easy to manouvre around the bends. The "meeting point" was at the center at the bottom on each door, where the 2 sides were sealed with scilicone. INSIGHT #2: Use a piece of tube INSIDE the meeting point so taht they stay put OUTCOME: 40$ invested total, waterjet proof, and takes a LOT more effort to shut the doors (i.e. better sealing) No shaking, ratteling, noise, or water ingress Did not allow the truck to perform better, but one of the better mods Ive done. |

There were two front door seals on ebay that sold for $10.50 for the pair. Now I wish I bought them. |

THAT is a bargain...however, after seeing how the new ones I put in sealed FAR better than teh originals, I am very happy with them. Makes you think to what extent LR economizes on our trucks... |
