I recently replaced my stepper motor. Initially it seemed to solve my idle problem. However, the idle problem has returned with a vengance. What other things should I be looking at to fix this problem? |

I had this problem just last week with my RRC. It was the 02 sensor. Symptoms were it ran ok at speed but sputter and nearly stall at idle. Smell of fuel at idle. I knew my O2 sensor had likely gotten damaged from an impact. Otherwise, it is often other failures that cause the engine to run poorly and eventually kill the O2 sensor. I would start with fresh spark plugs, wires (or at least plugs depending upon age of wires). Basically any of the efi sensors can cause similar symptoms. You can go to Autozone and get your computer read and post the error codes. It will tell you which O2 sensor failed (right/left/both) and any other codes. Also possible is a plugged cat causing too much back pressure in the exhaust. |

Thanx Geoff. I'll change the plugs/wires and get the codes read. |
