When I need to carry them, I've been lashing my pelicans to the roof using 2 cam straps for each case. I use one front to back and the other from side to side. I pass each strap over the top of each case, down through the handles, around the roof rack rail, and back again (which doubles the route of the strap). This works well and the cases stay extremely secure in all situations. The downside is that they are difficult to access the contents since the straps have to be undone to open the lids. This has not been a problem since the contents have only been needed in unusual circumstances. I am wondering what you all have found to work when you are on the road for days at a time and need to access the contents regularly every single day. It would be really nice to be able to just climb up there and open the lids without removing the straps. Has anyone tried strapping your cases to your roof rack by just using the handles on the cases? Do you have any additional input, suggestions, or ideas?? Thanks in advance, Jamie |

Does that just attach to the handle? If so, how do you hold the rest of the box down? thanks pwc |

It pulls down on the handles pulling the case against the rack. There is one on each side. Here are some old pics of it mounted, the new mounts look a bit different: http://www.mistymountainrover.com/pelican_mount_pics.htm Matt |

Cool thanks Matt. I was thinking of the 1600 for some reason with only one handle. |

You can also for a permanent mount drill holes in the bottom of the case and bolt it to the rack. Of course seal the bolts so the case is still water tight. My SAR group does this to a couple of cases mounted on trucks. |

I did a bit of research and those aren't going to be a good idea for me, at least for now. Thanks so much though for the suggestion, I really appreciate it!! Jamie |
